Swami Narayan Akshardham temple is situated in Gandhinagar Gujarat and is generally regarded to be one of the most influential spiritual Hindu complexes in India. It took 13 years to build the Swami Narayan temple and it is a tribute to the pious Swami Narayan and his teachings. The temple preaches the BAPS philosophy which centres on the thought that souls go to Akshardham after they attain Moksha. There are many facilities and features of Akshardham temple and their timings are as follows.

Temple Darshan Timing

Akshardham Temple is open every day from Tuesday to Sunday (the temple remains Closed every Monday). On Sunday and Saturday there is usually a huge rush of devotees.

The main temple door opens Daily 9:30a.m.and remains open till 7:30p.m.

The Akshardham Temple Gandhinagar is of gigantic proportions which measures 108 feet high, 240 feet long and 131 feet wide. The temple has 97 beautifully carved and completely unique 97 pillars along with 220 stone beams and 264 marvellously sculpted figures along with 8 balconies and 17 domes. The 4 life sixed idols of successors of Swami Narayan lie on all 4 corners of temple. First floor of the temple is Vibhuti Mandapam and has lotus themed displays while the basement is called Prasadi Mandapam which has historical relics.

Night Lighting Timing:

There is a gorgeous display of lights that happens every Saturdays and Sundays… This light display heightens the exotic beauty of Akshardham temple. A lot of people come in from near and afar to witness the spectacular night lights.

10 am to 5 pm everyday

There are 5 exhibition Halls in Gandhinagar’s Akshardham temple and each use beautiful audio visual techniques along with life sized dioramas to understand several themes in Hinduism. The Halls of Sahajanand and Neelkath show the life of Swami Narayan and his philosophy, teachings etc.

The Hall named Mystic India Hall has a big IMAX theatre which shows 40 minute film that shows a cross country pilgrimage of Swami Narayan (this film has won several International awards). The Premananad hall has religious texts, scriptures, Upanishads, Vedas, photographic theological displays and poetic framed works. The 5th hall is Sant Param Hitakari and it runs an audio animatronic show that propagates spiritual message of happiness.

Musical Fountain Timing

7.45 pm every day

The Musical Fountain is called the Sa Chit Anand Water Show is a layered performance of the fable of Nachiketa according to Kathopanishad. This show has been running since 2010 and uses fountain configurations, lasers, water projections, music and live performances of 45 minutes retelling Nachiketa’s story

Rides & Games for kids and adults are available in the adjacent park from 12:00 noon to 8:00p.m.

Restaurant remains open from10:00a.m. to 8:00p.m.

The Visitor Centre has an ATM that can be accessed during temple Darshan Timings. The food court exhibition exit, restaurant and visitors Halls have a telephone booth. Facilities like wheelchairs are available for the aged and infirm. Multiple restrooms dot the campus.
