Dada Bhagwan Temple, better known as the Adalaj Trimandir, is a non-sectarian temple complex at Adalaj in Gandhinagar district, about 20 km from Ahmedabad<\/a>. It was inspired by the Akram Vignani Param Pujya Dadashri (Dada Bhagwan). Jain, Vaishnav and Shaiv deities share one platform here, and the central idol of Lord Simandhar Swami is about 13 feet (155 inches) tall.<\/span><\/p>\n

The temple was built under the guidance of Pujya Niruma, who performed its Pran Pratishtha from 25 to 29 December 2002. The idea behind it comes from Dada Bhagwan’s view that “as long as there is disparity in religions in the world\u2026 peace cannot exist.” Visitors come for darshan, the daily aarti and satsang, and many stay longer to learn about Dada Bhagwan through the museum and shows on campus.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dada Bhagwan History and Achievements<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Dada Bhagwan, popularly known as Dadashri, was born Ambalal Muljibhai Patel (1908 to 1988) in Tarsali, near Vadodara. He worked as a contractor. According to the Dada Bhagwan Foundation, one evening in June 1958, while he sat on platform 3 at Surat railway station, he experienced Self-realisation. People began calling him Dada Bhagwan after that, and he handed his business to his partners to focus on spiritual work.<\/span><\/p>\n

The path he started is called Akram Vignan. It teaches that Self-realisation can be attained through a process known as the Gnan Vidhi, a session of about two hours. After his passing, Pujya Niruma (Dr. Niruben Amin) and later Pujya Deepakbhai Desai carried his work forward. The Dada Bhagwan Foundation and Simandhar Swami Aradhana Trust continue it today.<\/span><\/p>\n

In Ahmedabad, the road between Visat and Sabarmati crossroads was named Pujya Dada Bhagwan Road in 2012, and Zundal Circle was renamed Dada Bhagwan Circle.<\/span><\/p>\n

Temple Structure and Deities<\/strong><\/h2>\n

There are many Trimandirs in India. The Foundation describes Adalaj as the biggest of its kind in Gujarat. Ahmedabad city has its own Trimandir too: Dada Darshan in Usmanpura, near the Sabarmati Riverfront, opened on 31 December 1999. That is a separate temple, so check which one you are heading to before you book a cab. Other major Trimandirs are in Rajkot, Bhuj and Godhra.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Adalaj Trimandir is two storeyed. Its main shikhar rises 108 feet, and the carvings are in pink sandstone from Bansi Paharpur, Rajasthan. The ground floor hall is acoustically treated, has marble flooring and seats around 6,000 people. All satsang programmes are held here, with cameras, live recording and large projector screens so people at the back can follow.<\/span><\/p>\n

The sanctums are on the first floor. The central sanctum has the 13-foot idol of Lord Simandhar Swami, which weighs about 18 tonnes according to the Gandhinagar district administration. Beside him are his Shaashan Dev Shri Chandrayan Yaksh and Shaashan Devi Shri Panchanguli Yakshini. The same sanctum holds Tirthankars Rushabhdev, Ajitnath, Parshwanath and Mahavir Bhagwan, with Padmavati Devi and Chakreshwari Devi. The left sanctum has a Shivling with Parvati, Ganapati and Hanuman. On the right are Yogeshwar Krishna, Tirupati Balaji, Shreenathji, Amba Mataji<\/a> and Bhadrakali Mataji.<\/span><\/p>\n

Temple Amenities and Facilities<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Vignan Bhandar, the bookstall, sells books and media on Dada Bhagwan’s teachings. Amba Health Centre offers allopathic, Ayurvedic and homeopathic treatment at subsidised rates from Monday to Saturday. A museum on Dada Bhagwan’s life and multimedia and puppet shows in Gujarati, Hindi and English run inside the complex, and the temple also hosts school visits.<\/span><\/p>\n

Food is easy to find on campus. Unodari Bhavan, the dining hall, serves breakfast from 7:00 to 8:30 AM, lunch from 12:00 to 1:30 PM and dinner from 7:00 to 8:30 PM. Groups should book meals online in advance at bhojanshala.ambafoods.co.in. Amba Refreshment is open 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM and 3:30 PM to 9:00 PM, and there are two more vegetarian options: Samrasi and the 5868 restaurant.<\/span><\/p>\n

Accommodation at the Trimandir<\/strong><\/h3>\n

You can stay inside the complex. The dormitory and Stop N’ Stay guest house have basic AC and non-AC rooms. Amba Suites, in the Simandhar City township, has deluxe rooms, suites and twin rooms. For rooms, call 99242 73300 (general accommodation) or 99243 94394 (Amba Suites).<\/span><\/p>\n

Dada Bhagwan Temple Timings, Aarti and Entry<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The aarti is held twice a day, at 7:00 AM and 6:45 PM, according to the Dada Bhagwan Foundation. Gujarat Tourism lists the visiting hours as 5:00 AM to 10:00 PM. When Pujya Deepakbhai is at Simandhar City, a question-and-answer satsang is held from 8:00 to 9:00 AM. On festival days such as Gurupurnima, Janmashtami and Diwali the schedule changes, so call 93270 10101 before a festival visit.<\/span><\/p>\n
